Bespoke software & technical delivery

When off-the-shelf is not enough, BLD scopes, builds, and deploys mobile, web, and application software for operations, AV, and production teams. Entertainment technology consultant and custom software developer based in Melbourne.

In-house & bespoke is our specialty

Not every problem maps to a product on the shelf. When you need someone who can scope the architecture, write the software, integrate the APIs, and understand what happens on show day, that is where BLD comes in.

Alex leads technical design for Mandylights, an entertainment architecture studio delivering concert tours, city-scale light artworks, broadcast, and immersive experiences across Australia, the UK, and the US.

Partnership, not just software

01

Understand your workflow

We learn how your team operates, the systems you rely on, and whether a product, integration, or custom build is the right answer.

02

Design and deliver

From deploying a BLD product to building bespoke software, we handle architecture, integration, and tailoring to your environment.

03

Support and evolve

We iterate with the teams who run the systems and extend capabilities as needs change.

Representative consultancy projects

Real builds from touring productions, studios, and operations teams. Anonymised where required.

Live events

Crew resourcing platform

End-to-end scheduling for touring production crews, syncing HR availability, project management, and calendars.

Result: Roster planning cut from days to hours per tour leg.

Live events

Show-sync mobile experience

Timecode-locked audio and video PWA for on-site audiences, synchronised to the lighting rig for frame-accurate playback.

Result: Reliable show-sync without dedicated broadcast hardware on site.

Integrations

Chat ↔ project management bridge

Two-way bot between team chat and project management so conversations become tracked work during load-in.

Result: Fewer missed actions during fast-moving production weeks.

Lighting

Console cuelist bridge

grandMA3 integration mapping external data to console cuelists, eliminating hours of manual programming on repeat deployments.

Result: Automated looks driven by upstream systems on every show.

AV & security

ONVIF camera adapter

Turn JPEG snapshot cameras into virtual ONVIF devices so existing NVR platforms adopt streams without replacing the security stack.

Result: Unified monitoring without a full camera hardware refresh.

Open source

sACN-to-smart-lighting gateway

Map lighting universes to consumer smart bulbs with discovery and a web mapping UI for prototyping and smaller venues.

Common questions

What kind of work do you take on?

Custom software, product deployments, integrations, ops dashboards, AV and control systems, and extending BLD products for your environment. If you are not sure whether it is a product or a bespoke build, that is a good conversation to have.

Do we need to replace what we already have?

Usually not. We design around existing hardware, workflows, and platforms. Integration-first is the default.

Who will we actually work with?

Directly with the people who scope, build, and support the work. For most engagements that is Alex, the founder.

Discuss your project

A short description of your team, environment, and what you are trying to solve is enough. We will follow up with next steps.
